Terry James Art & Frame Gallery

Terry James Art & Frame Gallery has been serving collectors and the local community since 1987, with its gallery and custom framing shop operating out of a historic landmark home in Oxford, Connecticut.

As a husband-and-wife team, owners James and Terry Tottenham (artist Terry Waldron) are dedicated to providing exceptional artwork, custom framing, and personalized service to collectors and art enthusiasts throughout the United States. We specialize in military history art, with a collection featuring internationally recognized artists including Don Troiani, Arnold Friberg, and James Dietz. You can explore all of the artists we represent on our Featured Artists page.

Our collection also includes the American West, Native American subjects, classical animal portraiture, fine art portraiture, religious subjects, and other historical artwork.

We carry original artwork, limited edition prints, and carefully selected secondary market prints. Any artwork we offer may be custom framed by our gallery upon request. We also offer custom framing for artwork not purchased from our gallery. Please contact us for pricing or to discuss your framing project.

Custom Fine Art Framing

​Clients may choose from hundreds of frame styles, including Vermont Hardwood moldings. We use only conservation-grade materials and techniques to ensure both the presentation and long-term protection of your artwork. 

Our process includes acid-free matting and mounting boards, reversible mounting practices that allow the art to be removed without damage if desired in the future, and conservation UV-filtered glazing.  

We also provide custom matting and framing services for all types of needle art, using conservation mounting with expert lacing & stretching techniques.

Suggested frame and mat combinations are emailed to clients for review, allowing them to compare options, take an active role in the design process, and approve their final framing selection before work begins. All framing is completed on our premises at Terry James Art & Frame. 

Art Instruction

Art instruction is available to children and teens, ages 10 through high school, and to adults with classes running on a seperate schedule. Class sizes are typically kept small, with an average of eight students, allowing for individual instruction and attention. Foundational drawing instruction begins with charcoal, focusing on values, form, and still life studies, before progressing to color work in pastel. Instruction in other mediums and specialized workshops are scheduled at various times throughout the year. Student exhibits are also part of the gallery schedule.
