Robert Griffing is a painter known for detailed historical paintings depicting Eastern Woodland Native American in the mid-18th century. Griffing grew up in Linesville, Pennsylvania where he roamed the fields and shores around Pymatuning Lake, collecting stone artifacts that sparked his interest in history and Indigenous cultures. After graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and completing a thirty-year advertising career, he returned to the subject of his early fascination.
