The Battle of Bunker hill was another turning point in the American Revolution. The battle was actually fought on nearby Breed's Hill. Approximately 2,000 Patriots dug in on the top of the hill and fought back over 2,200 British troops as they advanced. It was only when the Patriots ran of ammunition that they had to retreat. British soldiers had not expected the rebels to have fought back with such force. The battle was not considered a complete British victory as nearly half its soldiers lost their lives or were wounded.
