Mark Maritato's original paintings of epic military battles and individual soldier uniform studies reside in numerous private and institutional collections around the world. "I am very thankful to be able to combine my two passions of painting with the study of history and material culture through my work." It was during his formal training in painting and illustration at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, where Mr. Maritato first began to paint subjects of the American Civil War period. In 2019, Mr. Maritato was commissioned to paint a series of artwork for the National Park Service site at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The artworks were commissioned as a part of an improvement plan to renovate the park's main Visitors Center and museum which is set to open in the fall of 2021. Several of his originals and Limited Edition prints from this series are now available.
